Guiding criteria for single reimbursement

Updated 07 August 2017

The Danish Medicines Agency may grant individual reimbursement for a medicine to a certain person pursuant to section 145 of the Danish Health Act (single reimbursement) when the medicine does not carry general reimbursement, it has an important effect of treatment upon the patient and other relevant treatment methods have been considered to be inadequate or inappropriate.

For a number of widely used medicines that do not carry general reimbursement, the Danish Medicines Agency has specified guiding criteria for the granting of single reimbursement. Please note that the guiding criteria are available in Danish only.

When these criteria are satisfied, the Danish Medicines Agency usually grants single reimbursement.
