Guiding criteria for single reimbursement
The Danish Health and Medicines Authority may grant individual reimbursement for a medicine to a certain person pursuant to section 145 of the Danish Health Act (single reimbursement) when the medicine does not carry general reimbursement, it has an important effect of treatment upon the patient and other relevant treatment methods have been considered to be inadequate or inappropriate.
For a number of widely used medicines that do not carry general reimbursement, the Danish Health and Medicines Authority has specified guiding criteria for the granting of single reimbursement. When these criteria are satisfied, the Danish Health and Medicines Authority usually grants single reimbursement.
