Trends in the sale of pharmacy-only medicines – development in Q3 2011.

The Danish Medicines Agency's quarterly monitoring of medicine use highlights active substances or groups of medicines, where sales and consumption of pharmacy-only medicines have changed markedly compared to the year-earlier quarter.

The focus areas of this quarter's monitoring are:

• A new possibility of following the sale of magistral preparations of melatonin
• Increasing sales of antipsychotics (quetiapine, olanzapine and aripiprazole)
• Continued drop in sales of angiotensin II antagonists
