Nils Falk Bjerregaard new Director General of the Danish Medicines Agency
The Danish Ministry of the Interior and Health has appointed Medical Director Nils Falk Bjerregaard as Director General of the Danish Medicines Agency as of 1 November 2024.
Nils Falk Bjerregaard holds an MSc in Medicine from Aarhus University (2002) and became a medical specialist in anaesthesiology in 2009. He brings extensive and diverse management experience from many years in the hospital sector.
Since 2018, Mr Bjerregaard has been Medical Director at Horsens Regional Hospital and, as part of the Group Management in the Central Denmark Region, he has gained valuable experience from a knowledge-intensive and operationally demanding organisation characterised by a high degree of interdisciplinarity.
Minister for the Interior and Health of Denmark, Sophie Løhde says:
“I look forward to working with Nils Falk Bjerregaard. He brings extensive experience from the healthcare system, and the strong competencies he holds will help strengthen the Agency's important work, which is essential to ensuring that Denmark has access to safe and effective medicines. As Director General of the Danish Medicines Agency, Bjerregaard will also work closely with the Danish life sciences industry on, for example, clinical research and better use of data and new technology.”
Nils Falk Bjerregaard will take up the position as Director General of the Danish Medicines Agency on 1 November 2024.
