In addition to the intended effect, most medicines have common or rare and more or less serious side effects.
The Danish Medicines Agency continuously weighs side effects of medicines against the intended effect. The more serious the disease being treated, the more serious side effects are accepted.
Anyone can report side effects to the Danish Medicines Agency, but doctors, dentists, midwives and prescribing pharmacists have a special obligation to do so. The Danish Medicines Agency uses the reports to weigh side effects of the medicine against the effect.
Particularly when buying medicines on the internet, there is a risk of buying counterfeit medicines. This means that the medicine may be either ineffective or have unforeseen side effects.
