List of products determined to be medicines

Medicines may only be sold in Denmark if they have been authorised by either the Danish Medicines Agency or the European Commission. It is the Danish Medicines Agency that determines whether a product is a medicinal product in Denmark.

As part of our work to stop the illegal import and illegal sale of medicines in Denmark, we regularly come across products that we determine are medicinal products although they are marketed as food supplements or cosmetics, etc. These medicinal products are typically sold online, are not authorised as medicinal products and may therefore not be lawfully sold in Denmark regardless of whether they are sold from a Danish or a foreign web shop.

We assess products pursuant to the Danish Medicines Act, which provides that medicinal products are products that are either:

• presented as having properties for treating or preventing disease, or
• which may be used in or administered in human beings or animals with a view to either restoring, correcting or modifying physiological functions by exerting a pharmacological, immunological or metabolic action, or to making a medical diagnosis.

In other words, a product will be considered a medicine if it meets either of the two criteria.

The list below contains products that we have recently determined to be medicines. The list includes the names of the medicinal products, images, name of the manufacturer, the assessment date and a reference to the Danish Medicines Act against which we have assessed the medicinal products.

None of the medicines on the list are authorised and may therefore not be marketed in Denmark. Selling these medicines is punishable by a fine or a term of imprisonment of up to 18 months. If any of these medicines are sold in Denmark, we will ensure that the sale is stopped, possibly in collaboration with the police.

New products enter the market all the time, and we have not assessed them all. It is possible that a product which does not appear on the list would be determined as a medicine that is not authorised for sale in Denmark.
