Reimbursement thresholds

Updated 08 January 2024

The more expenses you have for reimbursable medicine, the more reimbursement you will receive within a period of one year (the reimbursement period).

The amount of reimbursement depends on whether you are younger or older than 18 at the start of the reimbursement period.

The thresholds in the table below is effective 2024.

The one-year reimbursement period starts when you buy reimbursable medicine for the first time after the expiry of the preceding period.

The table below shows the relationship between the amount of reimbursement and your total annual expenditure for reimbursable medicine before deduction of reimbursement.

Instalment plan for medicine expenses

If you expect your CTR balance to reach a very high level (about DKK 21.000) in your reimbursement year, you can agree with your pharmacy to pay the expenses in instalments.

Under an instalment plan, the individual person and the pharmacy agree that the annual co-payment amount for reimbursable medicines can be paid in 12 equal shares. The patient's co-payment in 2024 is DKK 4,575. This means your monthly pharmacy expense will be some DKK 382. This amount does not include any fees charged by the pharmacy.

Please ask for an instalment plan at your local pharmacy.

Here you can read more about reimbursement and prices.
