COVID-19 and production of protective equipment: Collaboration between Danish Medicines Agency and Danish companies
The Medicoindustrien, the Confederation of Danish Industry and the Danish Medicines Agency have formed a new collaboration to switch the production to gloves, lab coats, mouth shields, isolation gowns, masks and hand sanitizer.
The Danish Regions and the Danish municipalities are moving quickly with the Danish Medicines Agency and companies in and outside Denmark to obtain protective equipment such as face masks, hand sanitizer and visors to make sure the Danish health service does not run out.
The Danish Medicines Agency has just started a collaboration with the Medicoindustrien, the Confederation of Danish Industry and the Danish Chamber of Commerce to switch production to protective equipment. The Danish Medicines Agency has asked the Confederation of Danish Industry to coordinate a national collaboration to switch parts of Denmark’s industrial production to protective equipment.
- People are working flat out in many areas of society to fight the problems of supplying protective equipment. This collaboration is yet another example of all the hard work. The companies are showing amazing social responsibility, said Thomas Senderovitz, Director General of the Danish Medicines Agency.
Denmark helps Denmark
In response to these extraordinary conditions, the Danish Medicines Agency has worked determinedly to get the full picture of the supply situation in Denmark in close collaboration with the regions, municipalities as well as companies in and outside Denmark.
As part of this work, it has just launched the Denmark helps Denmark campaign – a campaign urging organisations, authorities, institutions and private companies to submit their ideas about how to obtain protective equipment and COVID-19 test kits to the authorities.
The Danish Medicines Agency has also urged everyone to limit the use of protective equipment and to only use exactly what is needed – no more no less.
