New Danish act on clinical trials

Twelve new substances on the list of euphoriant substances

As of 18 February 2016, 12 new substances are included in the Danish executive order no. 557 of 31 May 2011 on euphoriant substances issued by the Danish Ministry of Health. The information is primarily relevant to companies authorised to deal with euphoriant substances.

Access to results in EudraCT from 13 January

When a clinical trial of medicinal products has ended, the trial results must be entered in the EudraCT database. The system has been unavailable for a period of time during which data could not be entered in the EudraCT database. The EMA now re-opens the database and results can be entered in EudraCT again.

Painkillers to be prescription only in Denmark from 30 September 2013

The Danish Health and Medicines Authority has decided that large packs of mild painkillers will be prescription-only in Denmark from 30 September 2013. From this date, it will only be possible to buy small packs of mild painkillers over the counter. There will be no changes to dispensing status of the medicines that can be bought over the counter after 30 September.

In Denmark, it will soon only be possible to buy large packs of mild painkillers when prescribed by a doctor. The aim is to reduce poisoning incidents and the need for liver transplants.

COVID-19: Restriction on OTC medicines lifted
The Danish Medicines Agency lifts the restriction on over-the-counter (OTC), which has been in force since March. This means that pharmacies, supermarkets, kiosks and others with permission to sell OTC medicines can resume selling more than one pack of the same type of OTC medicine per customer.
