Updated 07 September 2022
Dose dispensing means that a community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy places medicine in a dose container. The dose container can contain one or more doses of one or more medicinal products.
Dose dispensing is a service provided to:
- individuals, institutions and companies that, in connection with patient treatment, rescue services etc., use medicine for treatment of patients,
- specific (named) patients receiving treatment at a hospital or another institution included in section 3 of the Danish Hospital Act,
- other specific (named) patients.
The current Danish executive order on dose dispensing of medicinal products came into force on 1 June 2022.
In Denmark, pharmacies are responsible for dose dispensing of medicines. All pharmacies in Denmark provide dose dispensed medicines.
